LANCE MARTIN is a mulit-talented artist whose newspaper comic strips, comic books, comic videos and art books have been a big hit with people for decades. He honed his talent by creating original comic strips for newspapers at La Quinta High School and Golden West College. Yet the modest, creative Fountain Valley, California resident and author of the popular books, "The Little Hermet" and "The Foul Ball," and the colorful, cartoon-style stand-up artwork of "Grandstand Fans", has a hilarious new autobiographical book, "SERIOUSLY? The Art of Rejection" that will take you on his roller-coaster ride in search of success.
The cartoonist, whose work has appeared in numerous magazines and newspapers, including The Orange County Register, was encouraged by perhaps the most famous cartoonist of them all, Charles Schultz. The Peanuts creator enjoyed Lance's style and drew a Snoopy cartoon just for him. Lance's artwork has also been praised by Pulitzer Prize-winning photographer Don Bartletti and Pulitzer Prize nominee Craig MacDonald. "Lance has a fresh originality and brilliance that sets him apart and makes devoted fans eager to see his next creations," said MacDonald, the author of more than 20 books.
Over the last 50 years, drawing cartoons has been Lance's passion. He will tell you it's what has seen him through life's ups and downs. And with the never-ending source of experience that life has to offer, Lance will be bringing joy to countless people for a long time to come.
If you like cartoons, you may never find a more honest, funny, enjoyable book.
Good luck in trying to put it down.
